Smooth, creamy, and unapologetically melty. This two-ingredient sauce is ready for fries, burgers, vegetables, sandwiches, or anything else that could use a little more New School.

Simple New School American Cheese Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 2 pounds (32 oz.) shredded New School American Cheese

Directions

  1. Warm the half-and-half: Add the half-and-half to a medium saucepan and warm over medium-low heat until hot and steaming. Do not bring it to a full boil.

  2. Make it melty: Gradually add the shredded New School American Cheese, whisking continuously until completely melted and smooth.

  3. Keep warm: Reduce the heat to low and keep the sauce warm until ready to serve, stirring occasionally.

We believe in better

Fed up with the old school approach, longtime friends Alan Leavitt and Chef Eric Greenspan sought to create a cleaner, tastier alternative to traditional American cheese. After five years of tinkering with the cheese-making process, they created New School. American cheese done right.
